BohoVardo Coffee and Art is the result of combining two loves into one delight!
Many have asked, "What does BohoVardo mean?" Simply put, it is a term invented by the artist & roaster, Emily Borowitz-Karpinski. It was created by combining two words that embrace the essence of her work.
The words, and their personal meaning: Bohemian represents artistic expression and the satisfying feeling of creating something beautiful from nothing. Vardo, a Romani word meaning wagon, cart or carriage. The Romani people are a very diverse ethnic group. To me, this word symbolizes the idea of travel, exploration, and artistic embellishment wrapped up into a tidy little package. In short, that is the inspiration behind our name. Have Coffee and Art - Will Travel! It is as simple as that.
The idea of coffee and art cohabiting, to us, is clear. Coffee is an important ritual, for many. It is subjective, for example, an Ethiopian is vastly different from a Brazilian you may prefer aspects of the Ethiopian over the Brazilian and your friend may prefer Brazilian. Coffee can invoke particular feelings, memories, comfort, and energy, as well.
Art is also subject. It stirs the emotions in very personal ways. You my gaze upon a work of art and ponder vastly diverse thoughts from the person right next to you. The same goes for coffee, the variety of chemical compounds and flavor nuances appeal differently to everyone. Our goal is to share this experience with you by providing artfully roasted, high quality coffee for your enjoyment! After all, the simple pleasure of an excellent cup is priceless!
We roast small batch, specialty grade coffee fresh to order. The coffee we use is sourced responsible and fairly traded, often times, directly with the farmer who grows it. Much of the coffee we roast leaves it's origin as Organic. Yet, due to legalities and the high cost of using terms in our country, we cannot label our coffee as Certified Organic unless the importer has worked that out. We have a working relationship with our main importer and they import an beautiful variety of quality coffee.
